PROVERBS

 

Proverbs are short  sayings or  phrases that refer to accepted commonplace truths based on practical experience or common sense; furthermore, they are a very important part of the culture and the expression of peoples wisdom throw centuries of spoken tradition. Proverbs  carry  a lot of sense and they are usually mentioned when advicing people how to behave properly, that’s why , most of the times, we listen to them from our parents or  elders  because,  as  the proverb says “Experience is the comb that nature gives us when we are bald”.      

Exercise 1:

Listen to the following video and try to identify what do the proverbs mentioned in the video refer to. Pay special attention to the pronunciation of the woman when she speaks

 

 

 

 

 

Exercise 2 :

Answer, in your English notebook, the following questions about the video:

a. Did you like the video?  Why?

b. Does the woman speak American English or British English?

c. What is your favorite proverb on the video?  Why?

Exercise 3 :

Copy  the  following proverbs agreement or disagreement chart in your notebook; then, Put  a cross mark (x) in the corresponding box (I agree / I disagree) to express your agreement or disagreement about the following proverbs:

Exercise 4 :

Choose five proverbs form the chart above; write them in your notebook and express why you agree or disagree with them.

Exercise 5 :

When you complete these exercises in your notebook, take the corresponding pictures and

send them to your teacher's mail on Monday, June 29th as an evidence of your work.
