Date: From June 1st to June 5th (15th week)
Performance Indicator: Identify grammatical structures and time expressions related to the Simple Future Tense (To Be + Going To)
Class purpose: Follow affirmative, negative, interrogative and short answers
structures to strengthen sentences composition.
Basic information:
This form of the future tense in English requires at least three elements for its construction; These elements are:
1. The conjugations of the verb TO BE in present tense (AM, ARE, IS)
2. The expression "GOING TO"
3. A main verb in its simple form (READ, VISIT, TELL,….)
Here, we have some examples:
• She is going to read the newspaper at noon.
(Ella va a leer el períodico al mediodía)
• Are you going to visit your grandparents?
(vas a visitar a tus abuelos?)
• They are not going to tell you anything.
(Ell@s no van a decirte nada.)
This verb tense is mainly used to refer to plans or intentions that we intend to carry out in a short time; it is also used to make predictions taking as a reference elements that can indicate, with a certain level of certainty, that these predictions will be a fact.
Now, let's see some sentences structures and two examples for each one:
